Game Plan is pleased to welcome the Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport's (FICS) to its education network. Did you know that through the FICS' World Olympian and Paralympian scholarship program, you can access a full scholarship!
FICS is an official organization of Sports Chiropractic that comprises National Chiropractic Sports Councils (NCSCs) and individual members from around the world. FICS also has affiliations with other international organizations within the chiropractic profession and the world of sports.
We are proud to have FICS join the Game Plan Education Network to further promote flexible education opportunities in the medical field for our national team athletes — yet another example of the way higher education can meet the needs of athletes during their high-performance career and beyond.
The primary objectives of FICS is to see athletes (in both the Olympic and Paralympic Movements) have access to, when needed, the specialized skills of chiropractors as part of their sports health care team. FICS promotes postgraduate education, research and practice in sports chiropractic by forging relationships with international sporting organizations throughout the world.
Currently, 10 schools participate in this program, 9 in the United States and 1 in Canada. All offer a full academic scholarship except the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, which offers a half scholarship.
To understand more about the journey to become a chiropractor, 3-time Olympian Melissa Tancredi shares her advice on what it took to become a Doctor of Chiropractic while keeping her sights on competing for Canada. To learn about scholarship opportunities, visit the FICS Olympians scholarship program web page. If you are interested in studying in Canada at the CMCC in Toronto, please contact Dr. Peter Kim at [email protected].
